Will Ferrell’s production company is called “Gary Sanchez” and he once threw out a first pitch in character as pitcher Rojo Johnson, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he’s now going for the whole Mexican enchilada (see what I did there?): an entire movie in Spanish. We’ve known about it since it was called “Casa de Mi Padre”, (“the priest of my cactus”) and now it has a synopsis.
This movie is currently called UNTITLED SPANISH COMEDY [great title, thanks for mentioning it!] and stars Will Ferrell, Gael Garcia Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries), DIEGO LUNA (The Terminal) and GENESIS RODRIGUEZ (TV’s Entourage & “Dona Barbara”). [pictured]
Armando Alvarez (Will Ferrell) has lived and worked on his father’s ranch in Mexico his entire life. As the ranch encounters financial difficulties, Armando’s younger brother Raúl (Diego Luna), shows up with his new fiance, Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez). It seems that Raul’s success as an international businessman means the ranch’s troubles are over as he pledges to settle all debts his father has incurred. But when Armando falls for Sonia, and Raul’s business dealings turn out to be less than legit, all hell breaks loose as they find themselves in a war with Mexico’s most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal)… [Collider]
Will Ferrell is such a brilliant comedic actor that he can make funny out of nothing, with the downside being that he often tries. All he really needs is a hook, and the conceit of the Spanish melodrama sounds like it could be a really good one (slapping! cleavage! bad mustaches! Danny Trejo!). Then again, I could be biased, as my high school was 75% hispanic, and I find injecting Mexican-Spanish slang into any joke makes it at least 45% funnier. It’s basically the Boston accent of languages.
“No te gustan los ‘Sawx’, guey? Estas maricón?”

It would be great if they left the title as UNTITLED SPANISH COMEDY because they’re too lazy to come up with anything else.
I won’t see this unless it has Spanish subtitties.
This will be the most funny and absurd example of a white guy playing a Mexican guy since Charlton Heston in “The Touch of Evil.”
You know he doesn’t speak Spanish.
We know that, Patty, the question is does he know that.
iPinche pendejo!
I can’t wait to see the beautiful portuitalispanglish that comes from this movie.
What, is Anchormeng already taken???
I find injecting Mexican-Spanish slang into any joke makes it at least 45% funnier.
That’s crazy, because I find that injecting German into any joke makes it at least 45% angrier.
Sie weiß nicht wie das Sudetenland Kamerad!? Du Schlampe!!! (*Said while clenching a fist and raving madly at the moon*)
Fuck html
[A batch of screeching children wail on a pinata, bursting it open, Crappy spills onto the ground]
Siempre chingando con este pinche gringo. Lavante el culo y tome la agua.
Or perhaps I should say,
Fuck html
It’s cool, Peet. Baxter will translate for him.
It’s basically the Boston accent of languages.
No es usted. No es usted. Y no a usted. Ya fackin’ queeah.
I will only see this is Ferrell’s every line is actually in English. That or the spicy Latina up there gets desperate and takes it from one of the farm animals.
* Here’s hoping for a chupacabra tie-in!
The best thing about that hot chick is that she DOES, while you can’t do this on Nintendo.
No habla espanol.
Hot diggity, this should please… soccer fans?
I find injecting Mexican-Spanish slang into any joke makes it at least 1000% less intelligible for the audience of Step Brothers.
He should wipe the whole cast clean and hire an all white, black and asian cast. They could be in brownface.
/ACTING!
As a bachelor I learned that if you put damn near anything into a tortilla it was good. I believe that this movie is going to need a big ass tortilla because this sounds like a really fucking stupid idea.
This reminds me of the time David Lee Roth did an album in Spanish. Yeah that sucked too.
ah al fin una pelicula en el idioma americano.
Hilarity ensues when the diminutive members of Onza’s cartel have trouble scaling Ferrell’s body to decapitate him.
“Su cabeza, es muy alta!”
See, my joke was funny because of this old 90s commercial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIAA66rZTLI
