John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe
11.15.10This post will be a nice little round-up of the new pictures and posters going around the web today. First up, John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe in The Raven (source). I kid you not, this is the actual plot:
Based on an original script by Hannah Shakespeare and Ben Livingston, The Raven is set in the last five days of Poe’s life, when a serial killer is running around Baltimore using Poe’s stories as the backdrops for his killings. Poe and a young detective have a ticking clock to outsmart the killer before he strikes again.
Iiiiiiiiin YOUR EYES
at my chamber doooooor
YOUR EYES
forgiveness I imploooooore
YOUR EYES
You filled me with fantastic terrors never felt befooooore….
IIIN YOUR EYES…
Sorry, that was uncalled for. I know how much he hates that reference. Suffice to say, I hope Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Edgar Allan Poe: Homicide Detective team up at some point.
Next up, the first poster (source) for Jon Favreau’s Cowboys and Aliens.
1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Daniel Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear.
But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.
Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force.
If this wasn’t Jon Favreau I’d say it sounds incredibly lame. Want to get a project optioned in Hollywood these days? Just take a plot everyone knows and then add “and then aliens show up.” (See also: “Alien Rock Band.“)
And finally, here’s the teaser poster for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It’ll probably be cool if you want to see the director of Nine do National Treasure with boats and eyeliner. Walk my wank, Jack Sparrow.

He looks just like the commissioner of my Quidditch intramural league
John Cusack’s career… Never more
Quoth the raven: “I want my two dollars!”
Spoiler alert:
It won’t be very good.
And Poe dies.
Fixed for defamation.
The surprising twist is that Ray Lewis can read.
Banner pic: The once great champ, now a study in moppishness.
Just take a plot everyone knows and then add “and then aliens show up.”
Sounds like most of the hentai He watches.
Spoiler alert: The secret is small pox.
You can tell that the murders are being done in the style of Poe’s writings because the first victim is buried alive. Then the second victim is buried alive. The third victim is buried alive…
Isn’t Sam Rockwell in Cowboys and Aliens?
He’s done two of my favorite sci-fi movies, Moon and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. So maybe this won’t suck? I don’t know. I just know that I love Sam Rockwell.
the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford)
No wonder he’s a bit ratty, that must hurt.
“I gave her my tell-tale heart, she gave me a pen.”
I just hope Dolarhyde glues one of the aliens to a wheelchair and sets him aflame as he roles down a hill.
Quoth The Raven: “That’s So Me.”
McNulty cameo or GTFO.
So Disney won’t let Keith Richards be in the movie, but they’ll put Freddie Mercury on the poster?
Craig’s been “researching” anal probing for months in preparation for this.
I know this is dickish of me, but it’s Edgar Allan Poe. The only reason I know that is because of a particularly butch professor of mine during undergrad, who took great delight in giving a paper of mine a solid C because of that spelling mistake.
/But then I had sex with her girlfriend.
//Not really. I simply had a good cry.
