Harry from AICN and Sly Stallone are such BFFs that Sly sometimes sends Harry video of himself working out. During a recent late-night chat over tickle fights and bunny slippers email interview, Sly even revealed that he’d once auditioned for the role of Han Solo in Star Wars. So you can add Sly’s name to the list after Nick Nolte, Al Pacino, Burt Reynolds, Christopher Walken, Kurt Russell, and God knows who else who were rumored to be in line for the part.
Yes as a matter of fact I did [audition for Han Solo] and it didn’t meet with much approval since when I stood in front of George Lucas he didn’t look at me once, obviously being very shy. Then I said ‘Well obviously I’m not the right type.’ but it all worked out for the best since I don’t look good in spandex holding a Ray gun. [source]
That’s true. Luckily, he still looks good in really tight pants holding a pistol.

Lucas actually really liked Stallone’s audition. I mean, REALLY liked it. He wouldn’t make eye contact because he liked it so much, he shot first.
Spandex? Has this fucking meathead even seen Star Wars?
When Stallone read the line, “You’re all clear kid, now let’s blow this thing and go home,” Lucas shot again.
Lucas was put off by Stallone’s bragging about how much pussy he’d been eating.
I had always heard Stallone was in to some freaky shit (literally… i.e. hookers laying on glass tables and shitting into the glass, while he would lay underneath and watch while spitting off)… Has anyone else heard that, or did I automatically assume that on my own by looking at him and doing the math?
Nolte was first in line for the part until he was overheard saying that Chewbacca was “too sexy” and there was no way he could wait until the 2nd movie to kiss him.
Everything was going well until when George Lucas gave Sly a blood test to determine his Mitichlorine count, it came back positive for HGH and Sly kept saying “HeYYYO-da” who wasn’t even in this one.
Gary Busey was initially up for the role but he turned it down because Greedo looked too much like his mother. He said, with a tear in his eye, “Mom would never shoot at me unless I shot first.”
