After the jump I’ve got the trailer for Cop Out (formerly A Couple of Dicks), directed by Kevin Smith. Every time I see Kevin Smith talk I think, “Man, I like that guy.” And every time I see one of his movies I think, “Man, I wish I liked this.” When I heard he was directing his first movie not from his own script and it starred Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis, I had high hopes. Could this finally be the one I enjoy wholeheartedly??
So far the verdict is… I hope it’s just a bad trailer. It feels like it went to the Carlos Mencia school of joke writing. GET IT? IT’S FUNNY BECAUSE I’M TALKING LOUDER THAN A NORMAL PERSON!

I’m a Die Hard (ugh, feel free to kill me for that) Kevin Smith fan and really want to see this movie but I have to agree that the trailer does look pretty bad.
It seems like they were trying to use about 8 different strategies for advertising a movie at 10 seconds a piece.

Why the fuck does the trailer start off by pitching it as a “cop movie” parody. If I wasn’t already creamin’ my jeans for this movie, I’d assume it was a Seltzer/Friedberg production.

Kevin Smith should stick to original material. I’ll see it cause I’m a huge Smith and Willis fan but I don’t think I’ll enjoy it.
