I only posted here once before talking about how I enjoyed the site a great deal but couldn’t trust your reviews because you made me watch Adventureland. Consider yourself redeemed. Bad Lieutenant was fantastic. Just immensely watchable throughout. One of the very few movies that I really didn’t want to end because I was having too much fun with it.

Question though, what is this “best scene” you referred to in the review? I’m curious because I didn’t think anything stood out that strongly (meaning they were all pretty much contenders). Was it his old lady rant?

You know man, I’ve enjoyed this blog for a very long time. I certainly share your enthusiasm for Shane Black (brilliant shit), but only decided I needed to comment when I saw the sweet allusion to the Last Boy Scout, “Water is wet, the sky is blue….”. I wasn’t planning on seeing this movie, but now I’m really fucking buzzed about it….

Bad Lieutenant had Nic Cage threatening old ladies. Encounters at the End of the World did not.

That leaves them to complain only about more quantifiable things like “message” or “story arc,”

so when you say in your review of Encounters
The narrative arc gets lost and then there’s nothing pull you from scene to scene, so when he switches gears, you find yourself losing interest or wishing he’d elaborate on whatever crazy thing he just said. you´re not missing it´s merits.

I´m still gonna watch this movie, because I have liked all the movies you recomended, even if I didn´t like the original.

The Long Kiss Goodnight certainly wasn’t what I’d call good, but it did have a couple awesome line.
