10.02.09 HEY GEORGE CLOONEY, YOU LIKE PLANES?
(That Zach Galifianakis would show up to my work and pour bleach in my boss’s coffee was always a dream of mine)
I posted the teaser a while back, and now here’s the full trailer for Up in the Air, from director Jason Reitman (Juno), starring George Clooney and Vera Farmiga. Hey, am I the only one who constantly misreads her last name as “farm nigga”? Wait, is that racist? …I should just drop this, shouldn’t I. It also stars the ever delightful JK Simmons, and has at least a cameo from Zach Galifianakis. I like the director and the cast, but the trailer doesn’t do much to make the story seem interesting.
Clooney is Ryan Bingham, the wise old business yuppie who fires people for a living and dispenses wisdom about who to stand in line behind at the airport and not getting too close to anyone emotionally. He seems like he’s basically playing Edward Norton’s character in Fight Club, who’ll eventually have a mid-life crisis, but without the part where he beats people up. From the looks of it, he just meets a special lady. Which is a shame, because my answer in the if-you-could-fight-anyone game was always “Vera Farmnigga”. I don’t know why. I guess I just think I could take her ’s all.

I’m sure I’ll end up seeing it at somepoint, but Vince you are right doesn’t look as interesting as one would hope from the cast and director, also the women who clooney is “showing the rope to” was already annoying me just from the trailer. Movie should have had none of her and a thousand percent more Galifianakis and JK Simmons
So…Clooney plays another smug bastard in a movie. Jeeze, is it me or is he the new Tom Cruise/Al Pacino when it comes to range?
Heeey…won’t that set off a reaction with the ammonia He put in the coffee???
I like my coffee on the (clo)rox.
Out of respect for my black girlfriend, I am disregarding this insensitive post.
So which reviewer will be the first to refer to this as Flight Club?
Harry Knowles, Gpp. Harry F’n Knowles.
Burnsy,I would respect your stand on this post, but everyone knows you have no girlfriend.
If you do, she is only black because she is decomposing. Silly Burnsy.
Looks like he’s in for (glasses on) a flight for his life. *YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH*
I saw it at TIFF. Here’s my review:
Meh. Needs more Galifianakis. Kinda depressing, really. Booyah.
