12.11.08 STEVE CARELL’S BEAVER IS THE WINNER
It hurts Bitter Beaver that you did a Dane Cook movie
The Black List is an annual list of the “most liked” screenplays (that haven’t yet been made) in Hollywood, decided by 250 execs. Topping this year’s list is a script by Kyle Killen called The Beaver. As I reported a few months ago, Steve Carell is attached to star.
The story, from first-time writer Kyle Killen, revolves around a man who walks around with a beaver puppet on his hand, treating it as something close to a human creature with human feelings.
Filling out the top five positions [on the Black List] are “The Oranges,” by Jay Reiss and Ian Helfer; “Butter,” by Jason Micallef; “Big Hole,” by Michael Gilio; and “The Low Dweller,” by Brad Inglesby. [THR]
I’d like to write a screenplay some day, but writing is hard. I’ve found that the next best thing to writing a good script is to read one, and then go, “Pssh, big deal, I coulda written that.” And then make a big show of tossing it aside while you make a dismissive wank motion.

Did the Low Dweller make the Big Hole with The Oranges?
Beaver?
The Beaver
The Oranges
Butter
Big Hole
The Low Dweller
So it’s safe to say the top 250 Hollywood Execs. like food and porn? I can relate.
The story of ‘The Oranges’ revolves around a man who walks around with a Mexican immigrant, treating it as something close to a human creature with human feelings.
Spike Lee is upset that he’s never made The Black List.
This is SO bogus. Everyone knows Jerry Mathers IS the Beaver.
I would also prefer to see Megan Fox in “The Shaved Beaver.”
Is “Butter” the Michael Phelps story?
Beaver and Big Hole, huh? Who are they going to get to star in them, “Rod Munch”?
Oh, His bad, they DID get Dane Cook!
I’ve found the secret to “writing” successful screenplays is to cut-and-paste chuncks from scripts of other popular movies and pass it off as my own work.

I went to the park to see the lark. The lark wasn’t there, but I didn’t care.
Sometimes the Beaver won’t let go. Seriously…that’s what it’s about.
