CORMAC MCARTHY’S ‘THE ROAD’

Two movies I’m excited about in a row? I think this is some kind of record. Either that or the coke’s working. EEEEEEE!
Anyway, John Hillcoat’s currently hard at work directing a film adaptation of The Road, from No Country for Old Men author Cormac McCarthy. If you’ve never read Cormac McCarthy, his sentences are as long as they are nonsensical, and yet somehow awesome. Also, most of his books are really violent. They’re basically like a Wesley Willis song that stabs people in the face.
The pic comes courtesy of RopeofSilicon, and in it, Viggo Mortensen seems to be saying, “Son… I’ve been bitten by a rattlesnake on the penis. …You’re gonna have to suck out the poison.” Or perhaps I’m reading too much into it.

I read this book. It was… well this is hardly the place to be earnest, but it was really good, and really dark. I will watch this.
That being said, I noted, as I’m sure Pauly has or will, it could’ve use more robots fucking.
I don’t know who the Fuck John Hilcoat is, IMdb says he did a bunch of music videos (like McGonad) but his movie The Proposition rated high and the tags were Very Little Dialogue | Racism | Folk Song | Racial Slur | Gruesome. Sounds like the tags for one of my one night stands.
Da plane, boss. Da fucking plane. The Proposition was pretty good. Has the best Aborigine gets his fucking head blown off shot i’ve ever seen.
Lance- No Country For Old Men was a fantastic book and it was hard not to be stoked for the movie. The Road was fucking boring. So overrated. I loved The Proposition, so maybe Hillcoat can do something with The Road, but it wasn’t all that. With Oprah and all these journalists and critics jocking The Road, you’d think it was Karaoke or something. It aint no Silver Clouds, motha fucka.
