THIS IS WHAT IT TAKES
09.17.07Apparently this is what it takes to get a movie deal these days. Based on this online video, MTV Films plans a feature, starring Mike O'Connell and Ken Jeong (stars of the video), with Todd Phillips (Road Trip, Old School) on to produce.
The story revolves around the meteoric rise of a delusional rapper (O'Connell) and his Asian foreign exchange student friend (Jeong) as they take on the hip-hop world.
A silly Asian foreign exchange student? How innovative! With so much material to work with, I can't imagine this being anything but stellar. People are already saying this could be the next Kickin' it Old School. Besides, MTV is recognized the world over for their brilliiant contributions to cinema, such as Joe's Apartment and Bubble Boy. I'm sure this film will be no different, and definitely isn't an attempt to make up for not giving the Lonely Island guys a movie deal.

I smell Oscars!
No, wait. It's shit. Human shit!
No way this should become a feature, but that was pretty slick for an amatuer video. It probably wasn't a single take, but they did a good job of hiding their edits.
So this is what George Takei is up to these days…
I think they made some poor set choices here… clearly these guys are hitting on dudes in bar catering to "the gays". Trying to make this seem even remotely heterosexual isn't even plausible.
As far as the movie goes… I'm actually expecting a lot from MTV, they sort of have a corner on meteoric rises of talentless douchebags don't they? They'll have a lot of material to draw from.
Takei? I thought that was the guy from Heroes.
*AHEM*
Takei is on Heroes.
This should actually be successful from MTV's "please give us money" standpoint. They do have a built in audience filled with highly suggestive kids who love whatever the media tells them to. MTV has a long tradition of forcing in what they think people want to hear. Thats why most new music is crap. They should focus more on what musicians want to play. Like Hungry Hungry Hippos.
Hairy… damn… you're right. I should have said LOST.
Heysoos Mirimba. Expect to see every webtard on Youtube to get a movie deal soon.
Ken Jeong? That's what I say for my "gun noises" when I pretend to be a cowboy. "Ken-JEONGGGG! Ken-JEONNNNGGGG!" Because it sounds so close phonetically to a bullet firing and then ricocheting off of things, you see.
The original "Bubble Boy" ("The Boy in the Plastic Bubble," ®Scientologists Limited) with John Travolta was touching, by the way. This may be because I was getting a hand job as I watched it, but I also like to think it's because the acting was so riveting. (He was in a BUBBLE!)
…Damn I'd better get to work punching up that script for my film "James Doohan's Journeys in the Afterlife" pronto.
I'm happy to give MTV Films any number of passes for movies like Joe's Apartment and Bubble Boy… don't forget, they did give us Election.
Tammy Metzler: "Who cares about this stupid election? We all know it doesn't matter who gets elected president of Carver. Do you really think it's going to change anything around here; make one single person smarter or happier or nicer? The only person it does matter to is the one who gets elected. The same pathetic charade happens every year, and everyone makes the same pathetic promises just so they can put it on their transcripts to get into college. So vote for me, because I don't even want to go to college, and I don't care, and as president I won't do anything. The only promise I will make is that if elected I will immediately dismantle the student government, so that none of us will ever have to sit through one of these stupid assemblies again!
[Student body erupts in huge cheers]
Or don't vote for me… who cares? Don't vote at all!
[more cheers]
Thanks Dirk. Add to that list the Jackass movies, Better Luck Tomorrow, Murderball, Napoleon Dynamite, Kings of Comedy, Varsity Blues, Hustle and Flow…it goes on.
Anyone failed to mention that Ken Jeong was the obnoxious OBGYN in KNOCKED UP. He's got some comedy cred.
Going on a limb here, since people love to hate in talkbacks, but I think the clip is funny. Would you rather see something like this or MR. WOODCOCK?
I dint say it wasn't funny, it just looks like they're trying to make an entire movie out of a one-joke premise. I like Dick in a Box too, but I'm not paying $10 to see the feature version. Look at the Lonely Island guys – they've made probably 10 videos just like this one but funnier, and what was their movie? Hot Rod. It had its moments, but you could tell it was a few jokes stretched real thin. And I would bet a lot of someone else's money that that's what this will be.
Oh , that's right! I thought he looked familiar! He was quite funny in that role.
What are you complaining about Lance, they could have chosen the Smosh Guys or **shudder** LisaNova instead.
Isn't that the asian doctor from Knocked Up?
so it is… He's been in a bunch of stuff…

You know who else is better. Both Flight of the Conchords AND The Crazy Dogs.
